hola :)

wow…so i’ve totally slacked on this blog…

been a week since i got back from mexico (mayan riviera!!).  nothing has changed really except the fact that i have a tan!!  and i’m much more relaxed, although i just got back from the AGO (art gallery of ontario) re-opening with my parents, and my mom pretty much kicked a lot of stress back in me :(   POOF!  i just let it all go.  no stress, stress is bad.  i’m discovering more frequent white hairs lately…yikes.

my whole plan to quit my job is pretty much down the drain since i don’t yet have a backup and seriously am slacking on that too.  something about coming back from vacation sorta put me in an even lazier mood…i guess i’m on a delay of some kind…we’ll see how i progress in another week.  something about the food network (a tv channel here) that puts me in a trance.  i crave food 24-7.  even bought me all ingredients to make salsa and guacamole since i miss mexico so much!!  i miss the totopos (fried tortilla chips) and cheese sauce at the 24 hour snack bar at our resort and the twist ice cream machine.  so good!!  i even told myself i wouldn’t turn on the tele when i got back, but that’s pretty much down the drain too…it’s everyday, and it’s so hard to turn off.  last night i watched a movie with ewan mcgregor and ashley judd that was so weird and although it was time for bed i kept watching until finally i snapped out of it.  i don’t even know what it was called, and i’m too lazy to google it.  help!?

anyway, i had such a nice time on my trip (i recommend you all check out that area of mexico!!).  there was so much to do, and a week was not long enough!!  we did 3 tours: chichen itza (to see the pyramids/ruins)+cenote (where i took 10 or more minutes to jump from the stairs into the cenote)…so not proud about that…next day was snorkeling with the sea turtles+cave like/blue lagoonish cenote, and the next day was ATVing through the mayan jungle+cenote tour.  it was so fun, and i was happy because michael and i shared a quad and he drove :)   so i was (sort of) relaxed.

we stayed at the gran bahia principe coba and it is basically 3 resorts (other two were the akumal and tulum), and we get access to all of them.  it was huge, and there were these carts that were the shuttle for the resort.  it was so convenient.  the food and entertainment were excellent.  i recommend this resort to anyone (coba side was the best i found).  the best part was that we didn’t get sick and the weather was perfect!!  worst part was getting attacked by mosquitoes.  even still, i am ready to go back there already :)

pics are up on myspace, and the vids don’t work nicely with youtube (bad quality on the olympus stylus 790 SW for some reason).  i could’ve had this post up earlier…

a pic for shoe heads, only one shot and it was blurry…it were converse painted by local artists in mexico…there was one with an eagle wing design that was out of this world.  if only i had 2500 pesos and giant feet!!

i need to sleep, hopefully i actually wake up in the MORNING time.  peace y’all.

the oldboy of bel-air

•November 11, 2008 • 4 Comments

i was reading the metro (a daily newspaper commonly found on toronto subways) at lunch today and in the entertainment section in one of the blurbs at the top of page it said spielberg and will smith to do a remake of chan wook-park’s oldboy.  i couldn’t believe it, i don’t know whether to be outraged or excited, the premise just doesn’t make any sense, i can’t even begin to mentally visuallize oldboy into north american mainstream.  so i had to google it and i found this article:

http://www.variety.com/VR1117995429.html

i guess it’s true, here’s a plot synopsis of oldboy.  while you read it, replace “dae-su” with “will smith”:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/synopsis

yeah that’s what i thought too.  i think they’re gonna have to butcher the original to make it work here.  outraged or excited, i still haven’t decided, but i’m definitely interested.  but who cares about me, tell me what you think.

whoa that’s crazy talk..

•September 17, 2008 • 7 Comments

ok, first of all, this blog is NOT dead, just asleep at times…

re: kuya arn’s post–> crazy shoes

re: gela’s post–> ur a lucky lucky girl.  cute read, and now i’m craving those cupcakes :(   can we make them when i visit??

so my life has been still about dresses (not so sad to say), and i’m down to my last wedding with 5 dresses to go.  boy, that went by fast!  woohoo!  after this i get to make 50 chair covers!!  not so woohoo..

ahh yes, so kuya jay wanted me to blog about who i saw during film fest (TIFF).  i work in a landmark hotel, so it just works out that way…i get lucky.  so there was a reservation for the cast of rocknrolla (guy ritchie flick)…didn’t even realize it was him til i looked up the movie when i got home.  but anyway rewind back a few, i walk to my station, and omg, it’s christopher bridges aka ludacris.  i quickly snap out and back into it because then idris elba walks in…hehe bad guy from “american gangster” and “this christmas” fame.  did you know he is actually british, but puts on an american accent?  then i see jeremy piven walking around (entourage star), and not so inevitable to me at the moment, but yes, guy ritchie.  crazy huh?  for the 2007 TIFF i got to see sandra bullock and sigourny weaver.  very very cool ladies…oh and it was for the film, snowflake (which i still have to see!!)…i spoke to alan rickman too!!  only discovering it now (so sad).  he is a nice man as well.  i’ve still to encounter diva/o-like behaviour.  thank goodness!!

i just finished watching the lord of the rings trilogy (i’m probably one of the last people to see it too!?), but yes, this past week i was LOTR happy.  i absolutely loved every minute of it, but it’s true, the movie is a lot of walking around like kevin smith says here: .

post with dress pics to come…

Bringing in a little of my life to this blog…

•September 16, 2008 • 1 Comment

Whatttttttup Cousins? I didn’t forget about this blog, and no I was not sitting around admiring my car (Joel..) haha… Just been a little busy-body. Anyway I have a little pictorial update for whoever still reads. Since my last blog I mentioned Rock the Bells and the Comedy Jam. Marivic, Ray, Alexa, Mariel and I got to see various artists perform like: Mos Def, De La Soul, Dead Prez, Pharcyde, NAS… to name a few… and with the headliner A Tribe Called Quest of course! They are one of my favorite hip hop artists of all time and with the VIP tickets we got, we actually got to do a meet and greet with them! I never in my life thought I’d get to meet ATCQ or even shake Qtip’s hand and tell him how much I love their music. Their beats are so soothing and relaxing to me. I liked them since I was a kid… I would record their songs onto cassette tapes when the radio would play em…ghetto homemade mix tapes haha. Their clever and quirky lines and verses are what gets to me as well. That day was one of the hottest days of the summer…with the coolest people ever. We even got to take a quick pic with Bay Area’s own, Goapele.

Later, I got to go to The Comdey Jam… it was hi-freaking-larious. The headliner of the night was Kat Williams… He was sweating like a mother heffer. My friends and I assumed he was on one haha… Though he tried to cut his performance time short by trying to walk off the stage… the crowd boo-d him and he came back on… Personally I thought the other comedians were wayy better than him… He’s usually Hella, HHHELLA funny but for some reason he wasn’t as great. LOL. Anyways…Russel Peters didn’t even show up… and I missed Edwin San Juan, a Filipino comedian I really wanted to see… Check out his vid… you might like him!

Labor Day weekend posed as Carmel’s last weekend in the Golden State… Me and Shaun planned a last-minute trip to Lake Berryessa (near Napa Valley) to go jet-skiing and throw a barbecue with our friends from high school. We had hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and Shaun marinated Korean short ribs–hella good. There was sodas, beer, and caprisuns to keep us cooled down. A wonderful day spent at the lake… Hella fun just wading in the water too. Sadly, my cousin Jeno supersoaked me and my Kodak Digital camera… This action brought my digital camera to its grave… So sad! But it’s okay I know he was just trying to have his fun.

A few weeks after I purchased a brand spanking new camera… it’s very heartwrenching to buy it with my own skrilla… but this is all a major part of me growing up and owning up to my financial responsibilities. Weird but true. I am trying to be financially independent…Gas is a freaking killer to pay on my own as well… so when I drive I make sure I plan and map out an execution as to save mileage/gas/money… anything to help out my parents and myself as well.

The past weekend on Friday me and Shaun went to the dog beach in Santa Cruz, dubbed as Lighthouse Beach. It’s beginning to get very cold now so we didn’t get to go boogie boarding as planned. We did however just walk Deebo (his male pitbull) along the shore and he played with the other doggies.

The next day was the CDA convention… The whole staff came and we took classes and looked at all the stuff on the convention floor. It was my first time going to any convention of any type so I was pretty excited. The classes were interesting and it makes me more and more excited to get into the field of dental hygiene.

Let’s see… what else… It was recently my friends’ birthdays so I made them some veryyyy cutesy cupcakes… you can see in the gallery below. Kinda like the cheesburger shoe that Kuya Arnold has in his post. Totally coincidental that I made a cheeseburger of cupcakes and he made that post haha.

I start school next Tuesday. Yeehaw??? haha No, I’m really excited to start school… I love school! Just the work is haaard… As for job hunting… lol.. I’ll update later…laterlaterlater…

Anyways… Enjoy this post and the pictures I posted… gosh it took me awhile to write this up. I duno when I’ll post again, so toodles til next time <333

Andrew’s Sixth Birthday

•September 7, 2008 • 3 Comments

On August 31st, Meanne and I gave Andrew the most awesome birthday party.  Everyone who was anyone was there.  The party’s theme was Ben 10 (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/ben10/index.html), though we hired a creepy clown, Pat In The Hat.  He did cool animal balloons, but remember his face cuz you might see him in the next ”To Catch a Predator” episode of Dateline.

Here are a handful of pix, but don’t miss out on the slideshow.

2 Dates to remember, 12-6-08 and more importantly 7-11-09!!

•September 2, 2008 • 3 Comments

Ok Cuzzins abroad and in the bay, I have 2 important dates for you to remember and mark down on your calenders…

The 1st is 12-6-08, which as Im sure Arn knows, is the date that Manny Pacquiao goes down in boxing history, after he whups the shit out of the Golden Girl, Oscar De La Hoya…After much hype, ballyhoo, and negotiating, the fight of the century is on… Manny v. De la Hoya… The fight is yet to be titled but I propose… Clash of the TItans … Initial reports have Oscar as the heavy favorite, due to the obvious size advantage, but I think Manny’s speed gives him the upper hand, Oscar is too slow and old to keep up with our boy…It will be an interesting fight, and Manny has to step up his game to take down Oscar but I think he is well motivated and will be focused for his biggest fight to date…

The 2nd date is July 11, 2009, which will be the day of my wedding…Mark it down on your calenders, put a reminder in your cell phones, make a note in your planners, tattoo it on your hand… I hope that all of you folks can make it, and share my special day with me, its finna be the party of the year, come early and vacation and kick it in the bay area but in the least, plan for my wedding…more details to come…
