•April 8, 2009 • 1 CommentAs always the T.O cousins get together to celebrate the Borlaza birthdays. We take the birthday person out for dinner, wherever they want. Ail wanted some shellfish so we made reservations for Oyster Boy here in Toronto. This event was even better than most cause Joe was home for the weekend. We started out with taking Joe on a tour of Les and Mel’s place in Ajax and then picked up Ail from her parents place in Scarborough. With the Telesforos and McAdoos all in we went to Arnolds, where Tita Loyd had home made waffles, prime rib, scalloped potatoes and a cake ready. It was a brunch smorgasboard. We then headed downtown for some shopping at Roots and the Nike store in Yorkville and then over to Oyster Boy on Queen West.
Everyone loved the Oysters, well almost everyone, Lester needed some convincing but liked them in the end. The Oysters were a hit all around, good choice Ail.
After dinner we chilled at Ail’s apartment, this was also Joe’s first visit here. All in all it was a good day, and Ail picked up a very nice coat for her Birthday. You can check out some of the pictures in my Flickr photostream.

P.S. a few more weeks and it will be time for Arnolds ….we better get busy on the arrangements now, what was it for this one, 50 emails some texts and a few phone calls. I know Arn will come up with some good places to pick from.

80s purple
•January 3, 2009 • 1 Commentfirst off, happy new year y’all
80s purple is a website dedicated to serious shoppers as myself. it’s ok to look right? i made a wishlist up, and i would need to make some serious cash to buy everything i saw. also the massive sales they got going up everywhere right now is ridiculous. www.80spurple.com has a 30% off sale until Jan 5th so get shopping people!! code is: wanted30. converse by john varvatos is really nice to look at, but sorry no kicks.
stumbled upon this site trying to look for some hellz bellz stuff (they seem to have a way better selection than karmaloop for the brands i look for anyway…
oh and thanks for taking me to that hellz sample sale kuya arn…looking back i shoulda bought everything. left with nothing, but stolen riches did have a nice stash of tees for boxing day& i’m very satisfied with the hellz one i got (hermes tee in ash!). you’re right i shoulda got it in black too.
thanks to joe who sent me the following link and letting me know about hellz bellz in the first place:

happy food year!
•January 3, 2009 • 7 Commentsso i was watching the tv show “diners, drive-ins, and dives” marathon on the food network tonight and a specific episode caught my attention “regional favorites episode dv0303″ which originally aired nov. 28, 2008.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/diners-drive-ins-and-dives/regional-favorites/index.html
they had a segment on a place called “charlie parker’s” in springfield, illinois who’s specialty is the “horseshoe sandwich” which reminded me of a certain blogroll member with an affinity for “country fried steak” and who recently called out the borleezie blog for inactivity in one of his posts. the horseshoe sandwich is the signature dish of springfield, illinois and it has hundreds of variations, there’s also a “breakfast shoe”. if i had to drescibe it i would call it an open faced, country fried steak sandwich covered with poutine, but here’s the official descrption from wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_sandwich
it felt like i was gaining weight just watching the segment on charlie parker’s and i might have clogged an artery, actually watching every episode of diners, drive-ins, and dives makes me feel like i’m clogging an artery, it made me feel like going springfield just to try a horseshoe, but if you have been and tried or want to put your comments up.

Happy Hella-days
•December 15, 2008 • 1 CommentHey everyone. I’m still around! Although I haven’t posted anything in months, I’ve been trying to keep up with the blog. Basically, just lurking in the background and reading the posts. Anyways, the holiday “spirit” is reaching critical mass with us. We’re trying to figure out how to visit all of our families in the Bay Area to spread that Christmas joy, aka Khloe-boo. SF, Daly City, Vallejo, San Jose, and Stockton are all on the to-do list.
For the BAB (Bay Area Borleezies), we’re meeting at Ronsie’s palatial estate in Vallejo. There will be a White Elephant gift exchange, potluck, poker, and some drank (plural of drink). Hope the Canadians can make it out for this one. If not, someone will surely post pictures. I, for one, will refer to the family members up North as Can’t-adians. Just kidding. Hope to hear from you all soon.

and they say...
